Marion Edith VanZantwick, age 96 years young of North Muskegon, passed away due to Covid -19 on Thursday, November 25, 2021, Thanksgiving Day. She was born on December 4, 1924 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Warren and Leah (Bethke) White.

Marion moved to Detroit with her parents in 1936, fell in love, and married the love of her life, James McCully, in 1943. They lived together and bore six beautiful children. However, Marion and Jim were divorced in 1960. Shortly thereafter, Marion moved to Grand Haven, Michigan with daughters, Jean and Deborah. She graduated nursing school at Muskegon Community College, and then worked at Muskegon General Hospital until she retired. She lived in North Muskegon with her second husband, Allen VanZantwick, who preceded her in death on February 17, 2011.

Marion loved her children, her pets (especially her dogs), was very social, loved humor, and enjoyed traveling. Her favorite thing over the last 20+ years was going to Mr. Quick's coffee shop in North Muskegon and meeting with all of her friends almost every night (rain or snow). She also loved going to picnics near the Grand Haven lighthouse and taking walks on the Grand Haven Pier and Muskegon lakeside.

Marion will be missed and grieved by many. Marion will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dennis McCully, Randy (Sandy) McCully, Jean (Ron) Ferguson, James (Pam) McCully, Deborah (Monte) Stavis, Patrick (Penny) McCully. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as her sister and closest friend, Sharon (William) Boomgaard. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Milton, and his wife, Alice White.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, especially her niece, Leah Peets, our long tenured caregiver who really loved her Aunt Mimi, as well as Elizabeth Eller, her good buddy. Thanks to Spectrum Health Hospice and the Palliative Care team of Emily, Megan, and Mark as well as the Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation staff.

The Funeral Service for Marion will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Jai Mahtani officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Robinson Township Cemetery.
