Marilyn Rezny Obituary

Marilyn Lee Rezny, age 88, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Robbinswood Assisted Living. She was born on March 9, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Solomon and Margaret (Truppelli) Joseph. Marilyn married Joseph Rezny on December 22, 1956, in Oceanside, New York.

Marilyn was a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities area and faithfully attended St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Parish. She started out her working career as a hostess for the famous Tower of the America's in San Antonio, Texas.

Marilyn loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many places with Joe during his military service, including Germany, Greece, and Turkey. When her husband retired from the US Airforce in 1972, they moved back to Grand Haven to be near family. Marilyn retired from Food Service at North Ottawa Community Hospital at the same time as her husband and they moved to Arizona where they enjoyed a short retirement before Joseph's passing in 1993.

For many winters, Marilyn was a snowbird in Holiday, Florida, where her son resides. She would spend her summers in Michigan with her daughters and would keep herself busy in the winter working a job at Gloria's Boutique and Gift Shop in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

Marilyn came from a close, tight-knit family, who spent the past several years caring for her needs. Some of her favorite memories included time spent traveling and going on fun getaways with her sister-in-law, Sandy Rezny. Many laughs were shared in their experiences. She also relished time spent with significant other, Ben Sanders, before he preceded her in death.

Marilyn was an excellent Floral Designer who also worked in the floral design field and participated in many craft shows with her own beautiful creations of arrangements and wreaths. She was always a sharp dresser (her New York roots), who was very social and loved meeting people.

Marilyn loved to cook for family and friends and was well known for her world-famous tacos and burritos which were often requested. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed yard sales and watching the Detroit Tigers and Gun Smoke episodes with her son-in-law, Captain Willis Kerridge, who always took good care of mom before his passing in 2025. She also loved trying her luck at the casinos.

Marilyn will be lovingly remembered and tremendously missed by her two daughters, Pam Kerridge and Cherise (Tony) Suchecki; her son, Joe Rezny; seven beloved grandchildren: Jasmine, Cecelia, Chelsea, Joshua, Jalen, Jacob, and Arianna; several great-grandchildren; sister, Toni Ferraiuolo; brother, David (Elenore) Joseph; sisters-in-law, Sandy Rezny, Marilyn Wildrom, and Teresa Polimeni-Amoddio; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; two brothers, James and Phillip (Cyndi) Polimeni; and her son-in-law, Captain Willis Kerridge.

The family would like to give special thanks to Bethesda and Brenda for providing loving care to Marilyn while her family was away.

A private family Graveside Service for Marilyn will be held at Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery, with Fr. Dan Schumaker officiating.
