Marijean Helen Botbyl, age 95 of Spring Lake, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at home. She was born on June 28, 1927 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Harold and Ina (Johnson) Gold. Marijean married George Botbyl on August 10, 1946 in Grand Rapids. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2017, after 70 years of happy marriage.
Marijean’s church and her family were of utmost importance in her life. She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ where she was active with the Women’s Fellowship, and worked for Eagle Ottawa Leather Company for 49 years before her retirement.
Marijean is lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Judy Klumpel of Spring Lake and Deborah Fett of Grand Haven; her three grandchildren, T.J. (Sarah) Klumpel, Tameron Klumpel, and Jaqueline (Jay) Kruse; and her five great-grandchildren: Carson, Abbey, Hadley, and Emma Klumpel, and Revel Kruse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; sons-in-law, Daniel O. Fett and Terry Klumpel; grandson, Daniel R. Fett; brother-in-law, Jerry Botbyl; and sister-in-law, Helen Beaver.
The Memorial Service for Marijean will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with Pastor Matt Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Memorial Garden.
