Margery Teresa Willems

Margery Teresa Willems, age 99, of Spring Lake, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025. She was born on December 12, 1925, in Portland, MI, to the late Anthony and Katherine (Spitzley) Willems.

Margery graduated from high school and went on to receive her bachelor's degree. One of her accomplishments, which provided great memories for Margery over the years, was her travel agency, Margery Willems Travel. The agency provided adventures far and near for group and individual travel; it also provided Margery with many close and dear friends. Her family and friends loved hearing the different adventures that their mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend had experienced. Margery's favorite place to visit was Africa, which she had taken many groups to experience six times and was ready to return on any given day.

When asked what her fondest accomplishments and memories were, Margery responded: her children, Megan Willems-Koster, Robert (Rebecca) Smith; grandchildren, Sylvia (Ryan) Maike, Jack (Mayuko) Smith; and great-grandchildren, Max and Davie Maike. They were "the answer to her prayers and the loves of her life." Margery is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Margery was preceded in death by her son, Mark; sisters, Mary Etta and Ethlene; and brothers, Donald and Charles.

As Margery requested, a Memorial Mass will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Spring Lake. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
