Margaret Bell Steffen, age 85 of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at home. She was born on September 8, 1937 in Chicago, IL to the late Nick and Margaret (Bellmont) Munch, Sr. Margaret married Allen Steffen on April 22, 1961 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2015 after 54 years of marriage.
Margaret was a longtime resident of Grand Haven, where she worked for the Grand Haven Tribune for 30 years. She was a member of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Parish for many years, and was part of the Highway Neighbors Square Dance Club, as well as the Highway Neighbors Camping Club.
Margaret enjoyed playing bingo every Monday at the Knights of Columbus, taking trips to casinos around Michigan, camping, and taking bus trips for several events around the state.
Margaret is lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Christine (Mike) Peterson 4; her five sons, Allen Steffen, Jr. 1, Ronald (Judy) Steffen 2, Raymond (Kristen) Steffen 3, Jay Steffen (Terri Tyler) 5, and Andrew (Bronwyn) Steffen 6; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass for Margaret will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Parish, with Fr. Charles Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
