Margaret Kraai, age 100 of Grand Haven, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Dogwood Shores Assisted Living Facility. She was born on October 29, 1922 in Grand Haven, MI to the late John and Anna (Detleffs) Miller. Margaret married Bernard W. Kraai, Sr. on September 20, 1946 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2011, after 65 years of marriage.
Margaret graduated from Grand Haven High School and worked as a Clerk for Ottawa County for many years. She attended Trinity Reformed Church for many years, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.
Margaret enjoyed golfing, knitting, and traveling; she especially liked going on various bus trips, and enjoyed traveling on the train. She loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Barbara (John) Bar of Nunica; her son, Captain Bernard W. Kraai, Jr., US Navy, Retired, of Virginia Beach, VA; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Agnes Blaney; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Judy (Ron) Kuck; daughter-in-law, Pat Kraai; brothers, John, George, Henry, and Fred Miller; sisters, Hazel Snyder, Lois Kent, and Ruthe Rosema; and sister-in-law, Margaret J. Kraai.
The Family would like to thank Dawn and all the staff at Dogwood Shores for the wonderful, compassionate care they gave to Margaret in the final chapter of her life.
The Funeral Service for Margaret will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Trinity Reformed Church with Pastor Dennis Snyder officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
