Marcia Rae (Peric) Bottje

Marcia Rae Bottje, age 80 of Hesperia, MI, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at a local care facility. She was born on February 13, 1943 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Ferdinand and Mildred (TenHagen) Peric. Marcia married Timothy L. Bottje on January 18, 1963 in Grand Haven.

Marcia worked as a School Teacher for Grand Haven Public Schools for 28 years before her retirement in 2003. She loved being a teacher and her Elliot School kids were the highlight of her career. Marcia and Tim moved to Hesperia, MI in 2004 to enjoy their retirement.

Marcia attended Second Reformed Church for many years and was a member of the American Legion Post #28 Auxiliary and Grand Haven Eagles Aerie #925 Auxiliary. She served as Secretary of the Slovenian Farmers Club and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the loves of her life.

Marcia is lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 60 years, Timothy; and their two daughters, Carla (Garry) Spangler of Grand Haven and Tonya (Mark) Raggl of Fruitport; her seven grandchildren: Timberly (Gabe) Force, JJ (Katie) Hershberger, Angela Spangler, Brittnie (Tony) Huggett, Brandi, Brooke, and Ian Raggl; 11 great-grandchildren; foster sister, Rose Mills of Arizona; and sister-in-law, Deb (Jack) Krass.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Carla Jean Peric; and brother, Ferdy Peric.

A Memorial Visitation for Marcia will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Michigan or Second Reformed Church.
