Leona "Lee" R. Trowbridge, age 85, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 23, 2025. She was born on April 8, 1940, in Berea, KY, to George and Deane (Klooster) Kots. She married David Trowbridge on February 9, 1963, in Buffalo Center, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2014, after 51 years of marriage.
Lee spent her career working as a nurse for many years, including 15 years in Minneapolis, and later, locally at North Ottawa Community Hospital and Dr. Ottenbaker's office. She was a member at Trinity Reformed Church, where she was very involved in the music program and served as the choir director and organist for many years.
Lee was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan who never missed watching a game on television, loved people, and she especially enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Lee will be lovingly remembered and missed by her three children: Lisa (Steve) Kammeraad, David Trowbridge, and Jon (Shana) Trowbridge; eight grandchildren: Lauren (Jonathan) Neracher, Rachel Kammeraad (fiancé, Quinn King), MacKenzie (Butch) Maxfield, Haiden, Cameron, and Haylee Fritz, Reese, and Braeden Trowbridge; and special friend, Ron Streng.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brothers: Warren, Rodger, and David Kots.
The Memorial Service for Lee will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Trinity Church Grand Haven with Pastor Randy Bremmer officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
