Lee Edward Haslick, age 69 of Grand Haven, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 9, 2021, passing peacefully at home. He was born on April 1, 1952 in Ionia, MI to Clifford and Ruth (Wohlert) Haslick.
Lee attended St. John’s Lutheran school, Central Michigan University, and Michigan State University. He met his devoted wife, Marcia Stumpf, in Ionia, at the school where Marcia first taught. They were married on July 15, 1977 in Elgin, IL.
Lee was a member of the greater Lutheran Church and pursued his passion of music as an organist at many churches over the years. He was an experienced entrepreneur and owned several businesses including the Owl’s Nest Children’s Bookstore, an employment agency, and a Biggby Coffee shop.
Lee was an excellent writer and enjoyed writing for the Central Michigan University newspaper. He loved music and cherished playing the piano while his daughter played the violin, and he taught piano lessons for decades. Lee spent many years coaching his sons in the Tri-Cities Little League, leading his teams to several championships.
Lee was very intellectual and wise. He was enthusiastic about reading, being out in nature, hiking and backpacking, and watching sports. He was an especially big fan of MSU basketball. What Lee may be remembered for most is the joy he found in his grandchildren. Whether it was playing catch, having a snowball fight, or playing a board game, he always looked forward to his time with them.
Lee is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 44 years, Marcia; his daughter, Stephanie (Jarrod) DeGroff; his two sons, Nathan (Diana) Haslick and Brandon Haslick (Vanessa Schroeder); four beloved grandchildren, Benjamin and Austin Haslick, and Olivia and Connor DeGroff; and his brother, Roger (Maurene) Haslick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ruth Haslick; and sister, Marj Robinson.
The Memorial Service for Lee will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Kurt Wenzelburger officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial Contributions in Lee’s memory may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
