Larry Robert Woonacott

Larry Robert Woonacott, age 86, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born on July 12, 1938, in Monroe, MI, to the late Robert and Grace (Aseltyne) Woonacott. Larry married Shirley Deater on September 12, 1958, and then married Janet Holman on November 9, 1978. They both preceded him in death.

Larry graduated from North Muskegon High School, Class of 1957. He obtained his Journeyman’s card and worked at CWC Textron in Muskegon as a Millwright for 37 years before his retirement.

Larry was a longtime member of the Fruitport Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3666 and had recently become a Golden Eagle Member. In his younger years, Larry bowled in leagues at Starlite Lanes and Northway Lanes. He was mechanically inclined and loved working on cars and could fix just about anything. Larry was a devoted Republican who always voted early, and he loved animals, watching and feeding the birds, and always enjoyed a good cookie.

Larry is remembered and missed by his two daughters, Jan Akey and Darci Woonacott; two sons, Robert (Jody) Woonacott and James (Lori) Woonacott; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and two nephews.

In addition to his two wives, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Woonacott.

The Funeral Service for Larry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Nathaniel Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22nd, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests those who attend please wear U of M or Detroit Lions attire.

Interment will be in Hamilton, MI, at a later date.
