Kenneth George Koster, age 84, of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at home. He was born on February 14, 1940, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late George and Catherine (Bishop) Koster. Ken married Megan Willems on November 25, 1997, in Grand Haven.
Ken graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School and then Calvin College. He later received his master’s degree from Michigan State University and started working for Henredon Furniture, eventually working his way up to President of the company.
Ken volunteered with various agencies and churches, including St. Patrick – St. Anthony’s where he supported the Job Seekers program, Love in Action, SCORE where he helped individuals with business start-up, and at the various schools where his wife taught. Ken also served by volunteer teaching at the Careerline Tech Center.
In addition to his passion for helping others, he was also an avid boater who also enjoyed reading, and spending time with his friends, whom he regularly met with for lunch.
Ken will be forever remembered and missed by his wife of 27 years, Megan Willems Koster; his sister, Sherry (Paul) Wilson; brother, George (Sue) Koster; mother-in-law, Margery Willems; brother-in-law, Robert (Rebecca) Smith; several nieces and nephews; and his B.F.F., “Dusty the Dog.” He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
The Memorial Mass for Ken will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Spring Lake), with Fr. Bill Vander Werff officiating.
Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
