Kenneth Cook Obituary

Kenneth Lee Cook, age 90 of Grand Haven, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at home. He was born on December 14, 1932 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Benjamin and Florance (Berg) Cook.

Ken was raised in Grand Haven and graduated from Grand Haven High School. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1953 through 1954.  He married Elizabeth (Schultz) on October 1, 1955, in Grand Haven.  Ken was employed at AP Parts for 30 years,  and then worked at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ for 24 years. 

Ken was a member of the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post #28 and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.  He loved fishing, sports, crafts and was an excellent roller skater back in the day. He also served as a  Boy Scout leader for Troop 28 for many years.  He and Elizabeth enjoyed taking the occasional trip to casinos.

Kenneth is remembered and missed by his sons, Kenneth (Jean) Cook, Kevin Cook, Michael Cook, and John Cook; his five grandchildren, Josh and Kyle Cook, Elizabeth Cook , Craig II and Curt Cook; daughter-in-law, Cathy Cook; brother-in-law, Bill Schultz and sister-in-law, Sandy Cook.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth; Son, Craig; grandchildren, Bruce Cook and Mary Cook; brothers, Al and Robert Cook; sister, Esther McPhearson; sisters-in-law, Mary Ashley and Patricia Malley. 

A Memorial Service for Ken will take place on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with Pastor Matt Schmidt officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Full Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28.  Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.

Memorial  Contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ “Fire Up” Fund.
