Kaye Bush Obituary

Kaye Bush, age 73 of Spring Lake went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis.  If you knew Kaye you would not have known about her health issues given her ever present upbeat attitude and encouraging comments. Her contagious smile would warm up the room and anyone who came into contact with her was uplifted. Kaye was born January 31, 1945 in Cleveland, Mississippi to Horace and Olene (Sledge) Howell as Linda “Kaye” Howell. She grew up the youngest of four children with three older brothers. On December 26, 1969, Kaye married Gordon Bush. Kaye began her education at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi and finished several years later at Indiana Wesleyan with her Bachelor’s Degree. She then became an ordained minister within the Wesleyan Church, dedicating her life and her time to teaching others about Jesus Christ. Kaye was active in leading Christian programs for Stephen’s Ministry, Teen Moms and Second Calling just to name a few.  She volunteered for Hospice, Camp Bluebird, Tri-Cities Ministry, and was a Chaplin at North Ottawa Community Hospital.  She was the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for her service to the community. Kaye was a former President of the Spring Lake Public Schools Board of Education, served the Spring Lake Housing Corporation (elderly housing), was a real estate assessor (Level II), tax consultant, fully licensed insurance agent, and office manager. Her true fulfillment came from serving the Lord. Kaye always put the needs of others before her own, and inspired people through biblical guidance. While she will be missed by her family and friends, the impact she had on their lives will live on.  Her heart always was and always will be with her family. Kaye will be lovingly remembered by her Husband of 48 years, Gordon Bush; three children, Kim (Alex) Everitt, Chad (Nancy) Bush, and Greg (Callie) Bush; eight grandchildren, Mackenzie, Eli, Jasper, Aleigha , Benjamin, Conrad, Gabriella , and Corynne; a brother, Thomas (Billie) Howell; sister-in-law, Joan Marble; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Durrell Howell. The Memorial Service for Kaye will be on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at All Shores Wesleyan Church in Spring Lake, with Pastor Pete Yoshonis officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
