Karen Lynn Wettach, age 80 of Grand Haven, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2023, at home. She was born on January 23, 1943, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Gilmore and Frances (Borello) Bonselaar. In 1961, at the age of 19, Karen was married and then had three children. She then married Anthony Wettach in March of 1972 in Grand Haven and had two children together. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1989.
Karen graduated from Grand Haven High School and was a life-long resident of Grand Haven. In her younger years, she stayed active by bowling and playing softball. Karen enjoyed knitting, working on crafts, and working on puzzles. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and her most favorite pastime was playing Scrabble with her life-long friend, Julie.
Karen will be lovingly remembered and missed by her four daughters: Shelly (Kip) Martin, Pam (Shane) Nienhouse, Chris (Tim) Viening, and Becky (Dale) Sees; her son, John (Chris) Wettach; 10 beloved grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Bonnie Daniels and Debbie Bonselaar; and her brother, Danny Bonselaar.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gordon Duram, Jr.; and brother, Ron Bonselaar.
A Celebration of Karen’s life will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Grand Haven Elks Lodge.
Memorial Contributions in Karen’s memory may be made to Harbor Humane Society or Trinity Health at Home Hospice-Grand Haven.
