Justin John Graegin, age 49, of Spring Lake, passed away at home on Monday, April 28, 2025, after fighting a courageous battle with metastatic colorectal cancer. He was born on July 2, 1975, in Hammond, Indiana, to Terry and Gail (Ross) Graegin. Justin married Teracia Wortman on August 13, 2008, in Traverse City, MI.
Justin graduated from Lowell High School (Indiana), Class of 1993. He then went on to earn his bachelor's degree in management from Purdue University, graduating in 1999. Justin served his country in the Army National Guard and spent his career in management, most recently working for Medallion Corp. in Grand Haven.
Justin enjoyed fishing and camping, and he especially looked forward to annual camping trips up to Silver Lake with his family. He was always up for board game nights with the family, playing a game of Euchre, Cribbage, or "Pay Me," or playing his favorite game, "Hand and Foot." Justin was an avid gamer (X-Box, PlayStation, and online computer games), and was an active member of the gaming community, conversing and playing against players from all over the world. He was also a big fan and collector of Star Wars memorabilia.
Justin was a great husband, father, son, brother, and uncle who was selfless and lived to serve and help others. He was very active in his children's lives, serving as his son's Cub Scout Den Leader, and as Vacation Bible School and Sunday School volunteer at the family's church, United Methodist Church of the Dunes. He was a warrior who fought hard against his illness and will be lovingly remembered by his family, his friends, and by so many whose lives he impacted.
Justin is forever missed by his loving wife of 16 years, Teracia; and their two children, Leia and Aaron Graegin, all of Spring Lake; his parents, Terry and Gail Graegin of Lowell, IN; his three brothers: Joshua, Jacob (Sarah), and Jordan (Jenny) Graegin; brother-in-law and close friend, Jessie (Julia) Wortman; as well as 10 nieces and nephews (and one on the way). He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Betty Graegin, and Jack and Geraldine Smith.
The Funeral Service for Justin will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Lou Grettenberger officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will also be held in Indiana at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Contributions to benefit Justin's two children be made to Teracia Graegin c/o Klaassen Family Funeral Home.
