Joyce Marie (Dempsey) Welling

Joyce Marie Welling, age 78 of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Heartwood Lodge. She was born on July 16, 1940 in Grand Haven to the late William and Doris (Verhoek) Dempsey. Joyce married David Welling on July 7, 1960, and they were married for 32 years before his passing on April 25, 1993. She was a member of All Shores Wesleyan Church and sang in the church choir. Joyce volunteered at Christian Haven Home, and she worked for “Just for You” Hallmark Store in Grand Haven for 21 years. She was an avid walker, loved flowers and gardening, liked sending cards with the gold foil to family and friends, and in her younger years, she was a good softball player and bowler.

Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sherri (Randy) Radulski; sons, Mark (Bethany) Welling, Scott (Shellee) Welling; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Russ) Tuuk; brothers, Bill (Jan) Dempsey, Jim (Kay) Dempsey, Rich (Karen) Dempsey, Dave (Eden) Dempsey; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; grandson, Jared Garrow; and sister, Warrene Long.

The Memorial Service for Joyce will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at All Shores Wesleyan Church with Pastor Ralph Baynum officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A private interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or Christian Haven Home.
