Joyce Ann (Graf) Hughes

Joyce Ann Hughes, age 90 of Spring Lake, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Baldwin House Senior Living Lloyd's Bayou. She was born on November 27, 1933, in Saline, MI, to the late Leeland and Martha (Dresselhouse) Graf. Joyce married Ronald L. Hughes on September 20, 1958, in Saline, MI. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2013, after 55 years of marriage.

Joyce graduated from Saline High School and was a stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up, and later went to nursing school to obtain her LPN license. She worked as an LPN at Shore Haven Nursing Home for many years before her retirement. Joyce enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and spending time at the family cottage up north playing “gripe rummy” and euchre. She was a huge animal lover who always had dogs in her life, and she was a great collector of many things; her rock collection and “Precious Moments” being among her favorite collections. 

Joyce will be lovingly remembered and missed by her four children: Debra (Paul) VanRandwyk, Terence “Terry” (Tammy) Hughes, Robyn (Brian) Miles, and Laura (Kevin) Boes; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Graf; two sisters, Marilyn McIntosh and Helen Freeland; sisters in law, Ethel Grajardo and Donna Hughes; and brother-in-law, John Hughes.

The Funeral Service for Joyce will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Nathaniel Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Trinity Health at Home Hospice Grand Haven.
