Joyce F. (Blauwkamp) Dark

Joyce F. Dark, age 93, of Spring Lake, MI, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 22, 2024, in Holland, MI. She was born on August 30, 1930, in Zeeland, MI, to the late Gerrit and Sena (Walters) Blauwkamp. Joyce married John “Jack” Dark on June 7, 1975, and cherished their 42 years of marriage together in their Spring Lake home. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2017.

Joyce’s medical career interests led her to the office of Dr. Kemme in Drenthe, where she served for 30 years, and then continued for the next 23 years in the offices of Lakeshore Surgical of Holland. Throughout Joyce’s life, she was loved and appreciated by her colleagues.

Joyce enjoyed music, and for 40 years, sang in the Zeeland Civic Chorus in their yearly performance of Handel’s Messiah. Joyce was a faithful member of Grand Haven Second Christian Reformed Church and was endearingly referred to as “the card lady” who always remembered and encouraged members by sending them cards.

Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Ethel Teusink; sister-in-law, Dr. Alison Dark; many nieces and nephews, dear friends, and her compassionate caregivers at Appledorn South Living Center.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Hattie Blauwkamp, Dick (Bertha) Blauwkamp, Henrietta (Art) Sterken, Bert (Ruth) Blaukamp, Harold (Lucille) Blauwkamp, Janet (Stan) Voss, Sid Teusink, and Gladys Blauwkamp; and her siblings-in-law: Mary Kathryn Dark, Father Larry Dark, Dorothy Hieshetter, and Michael Dark.

Joyce lived by Psalm 46:10 - Be still and know that I am God.

The Funeral Service for Joyce will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, 1500 Robbins Rd., Grand Haven, MI, 49417, with Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

If one wishes, Memorial Contributions in Joyce’s memory may be made to Holland Christian Schools, Zeeland Christian School, or the Education Fund of Second Christian Reformed Church of Grand Haven.
