John "Jack" von Albade Obituary

John "Jack" Penrose von Albade, age 96, of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Grand Pines Assisted Living. He was born on October 2, 1928, in Chicago, IL, to the late Francis "Bunny" and Besse "DZ" (Dailey) von Albade. Jack married Pauline Fricano Kaminski in 1968, and she preceded him in death in 1997.

Jack graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Chicago and went on to attend Loyola University Chicago. He then attended the Naval Academy in Chicago and proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1952 to 1954.

Jack spent his career working in sales and management in the furniture business until his retirement, including working for Porenta's Furniture in Grand Haven. He was a proud member of the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28 for several years, and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, playing Sudoku, and spending his time living in Florida for many years.

Jack is forever remembered and missed by his daughters, Katherine Saurbaugh (Paul Ellingboe), Martha (Robert) Bell; his sons, Francis James "Jim" Kaminski (Debra VandeBunte) and John (Lori) Kaminski; several grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew von Albade; and siblings, Joan Murphy and Joseph von Albade.

A private family Graveside Service for Jack will be held at Lake Forest Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to University of Michigan's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.
