John "Jack" Bolderson Obituary

John “Jack” William Bolderson, of Grand Haven, beloved son, father, grandfather, and husband, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024. He was born at home in Flint, MI, on June 4, 1938, to the late Ellis and Gladys (Payne) Bolderson. Jack married Linda Yates on September 5, 1987, in Dearborn, MI.

John’s family moved to Detroit, MI when he was three years old. He graduated from Cody High School and then proudly served his country in the US Army, from 1956 to 1958. Jack continued to serve his community by joining the Detroit Police Department in 1960, retiring as Police Sergeant in January of 1988. During his time at the police department, he earned his liberal arts degree from the University of Michigan.

John was a lifelong supporter of the U of M Wolverines, “Go Blue!” and after his retirement in 1988, he became a snowbird down in Fort Myers, Florida. He enjoyed golfing, riding his bike, playing racquetball, and playing cards with his buddies. Jack and Linda also enjoyed several summers spent in Grand Haven. Most important to him was his family, which he was so very proud of. “As we all mourn his loss, we will continue his legacy of love, loyalty to family, hard work, and respect for others. We will dearly miss his stories and his amazing sense of humor.”

Jack leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Linda “Lynn” Bolderson of Grand Haven; his two children: Lori (Tom) Dara of Grand Haven and Brian (Julie) Bolderson of South Carolina; four grandchildren: Caley, Steven, Ethan, and Briana; and two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Riley.

He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Bolderson.
