John Wolovlek, III, age 77 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Trinity Health Saint Mary’s Hospital - Grand Rapids. He was born on November 26, 1946, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late John and Colleen (Corbett) Wolvolek, II. John married Martha Wilterdink on June 11, 1966, in Grand Haven.
John was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven, who began his working career with Braak’s Bakery. For several years, he worked at MSI Gas Station where he became district manager, also working with Jerry Grows Honda Motorcycle. John and Martha began a new venture when they opened J.D. Super Stop in Ferrysburg, which they owned and operated for five years. Later, he operated the local ChemDry Carpet Cleaning Service.
John was a member of the Radiant Church – Lakeshore (formerly Coastal Community Church). He enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, and motorcycle riding, but the most important part of his life was spending time with his family.
John will be loving remembered and missed by his wife of 57 years, Martha; his daughter, Brenda (Todd) Olechnowicz; his son, Brian (Jessica) Wolovlek; five grandchildren: Rachel Wolovlek, Amanda (Adam) Mears, Michaela Hekkema, Sidney Lewis, and Dylan Wolovlek; five great-grandchildren: Jazmyn, Lillie, Malachi, Gunner, and Ruby; five sisters: Jill Walsh, Cynthia Kolanko, Chari (Jim) Zysk, Cheryl Wolovlek (Dave Tinsley), and Deborah Wolovlek; three brothers: Jim (Regina) Wolovlek, Mike (Robin) Wolovlek, and Richard Wolovlek; and many nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Service for John will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Radiant Church - Lakeshore. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
