John Willis Styf, age 93 of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Robbinswood Assisted Living. He was born on October 30, 1927 in Blendon Township, MI to the late William and Jenny (Havaman) Styf. John married Viola Smith on January 18, 1973 and she preceded him in death on May 30, 2012, after 39 years of marriage.
John proudly served his country in the US Army from 1946 to 1947, during WWII. He attended South Olive Christian Reformed Church and worked for Pioneer Construction and Taylor Building System. Utilizing his building and handyman skills, he built his daughter’s kitchen, as well as several kitchen remodels and garage additions for family members and friends.
John enjoyed traveling abroad, especially to the Netherlands, the Philippines, Ireland, and Japan. He also traveled around Europe, visiting Germany and Paris, France. John was a people person who loved to have conversations with those around him, and was always a friendly, familiar face to many.
John will be lovingly remembered and missed by his daughter, Barb Atkins of White Cloud, MI; son, Robert (Joni) Styf of Grand Rapids, MI; seven grandsons, Chris, Brent, Dan, Louis, Joe, Ben, and Dan Styf; seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Dan Grego; sisters, Evelyn (Art) Grassmeyer and Jean Styf-Shaw; brother, Wayne (Carmella) Styf; sister-in-law, Ida Styf; and special friend, Marge.
In addition to his wife, Viola, John was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Dykstra in 1994; daughter, Shirley Grego; son-in-law, Leon Atkins; brother, Arthur Styf; and sister, Hildred Decker.
The Funeral Service for John will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Masks and Social Distancing will be required at all services.

Full Military Rites to be performed by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28. Interment will take place at Blendon Township Cemetery.
