John William McLean, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at his home in Spring Lake, MI. He was born on October 5, 1950 in Muskegon, MI to the late William and Donna (Sloan) McLean.
John graduated from Fruitport High School in 1968 and went on to work at Howard Miller Clock Company, among other places. In his free time, he loved playing guitar and was a great chess player. John loved to spend time with his family. He was a spiritual man and was also known for writing poetry and song lyrics. And he was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan.
John will be lovingly remembered and missed by his two sons, Nick (and Victoria) McLean of Hudsonville, MI, and Andrew McLean (Brittany Belvin) of Kalamazoo, MI; his daughter, Megan (Tim) Krecsmar of Elkhart, IN; the mother of those children, Jo-Dea Bouman of Holland, MI; his 16 beloved grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Steve) Deering of Ravenna, MI; two brothers, Mike McLean of Grand Rapids, MI, and David McLean of Grand Haven, MI; and his lifelong friend, Dave Swanson of Spring Lake, MI. John was preceded in death by his sister, Jane McLean; and his brother, Patrick McLean.
A Celebration of Life for John will be held at a later date to be announced.
