John E. Busman, age 89 of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 11, 2021. He was born September 13, 1931 in Coopersville, MI to the late Jacob and Minnie (Veeneman) Busman, and was the second-youngest of ten children.
John graduated from Hope College and Western Theological Seminary in Holland and began his 40-year ministry with the Reformed Church of America in 1957. He married the former Joyce M. Schultz on August 24, 1956 and they were blessed with three sons. Their ministry included congregations in Kalamazoo, MI (5 years); Phoenix, AZ (7); Ripon, CA (12); Lakewood, CO (14); and a 2-year interim position in Denver. John retired in 1997.
Two years after Joyce passed away in 2015, John married the former Barb (Pennings) Kremer on May 14, 2016 in Grand Haven. John was an avid golfer, enjoyed camping in California and Colorado, hosted groups on trips to the Holy Land, enjoyed a cruise that passed through the Panama Canal, and a trip to England and Scotland with friends.
John will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife, Barb and her family; his sons: Dan (Tamara), David, and Doug (Lisa) Busman; grandchildren, Chris, Kim, Jonathan, Kyla, Kiralise and Jake; great-grandchildren, Grace and Charlotte; and his many friends.
The Memorial Service for John will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Trinity Reformed Church in Grand Haven, with Pastor Randy Bremmer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Masks and Social Distancing will be required at all services.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
