John J. Bati, age 76 of Grand Haven, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Robbinswood Assisted Living. He was born on November 10, 1947, in Joliet, IL, to the late Dimitri and Marsoula (Koukas) Bati.
John was a graduate of Joliet Central High School and received his bachelor’s degree in teaching from Northern Illinois University. For many years, he was a teacher in the DeKalb Public School System. Following his retirement from teaching, he relocated to Grand Haven.
While a resident of Grand Haven, John was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Muskegon. He also enjoyed working part-time and having a booth at the West Michigan Antique Mall. John especially treasured his trips to his family’s heritage and homeland of Greece.
John will be lovingly remembered by his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Jacqueline Bati of Joliet, Il; nephew, James Bati, and his children, Max and Alex; and niece, Margaret (Chuck) Roesel; and by many special friends he had in Joliet and Grand Haven.
A private graveside service will be held in Joliet Cemetery and a Memorial Service will be held in Joliet, IL at a later date.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Muskegon or Trinity Health at Home Hospice - Grand Haven.
