Johanna (Korving) Endenburg

Johanna Endenburg, age 96, of Grand Haven, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Lakeshore Assisted Living. She was born on September 20, 1927, in Scheveningen, Netherlands, to the late Arie and Gerritdina (VanBaaren) Korving. Johanna married Christiaan Hendrik "Chris" Endenburg on November 22, 1950 in s-Gravenhage, Netherlands. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2012, after 61 years of marriage.

Johanna grew up and went to school in the Netherlands, moving to the United States in 1954. She cleaned houses and worked at Community Haven in Eastmanville, MI for many years before retiring to be at home with their children.

Johanna was a former member of First Reformed Church in Grand Haven, and enjoyed knitting, sewing, going for bicycle rides, and reading her bible daily devotions. She loved having coffee with her friends, or anyone who was interested. Johanna also loved swimming in the North Sea.

Johanna will be lovingly remembered and missed by her three daughters: Marja (Jim) Cook, Johanna Luna, and Kristen (Scott) Klempel, all of Grand Haven; her son, Gerard (Yolanda) Endenburg of Muskegon; eight grandchildren: Aaron Kendall, and Adam Cook, Paul Luna, Jr., Corrie Luna, Kylie Klempel, Nicole Soucie, Sara Walters; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Geri (John) McCaleb; brother, Arie (Mary) Korving; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christiaan; son-in-law, Paul Luna, Sr.; grandson, Andrew Cook; brothers, Maarten, and Jacob (Carolyn) Korving; and sister-in-law, Johanna Endenburg.

The Funeral Service for Johanna will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Pete Yoshonis officiating. Visitation will be held the evening prior on Tuesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Interment will be next to her husband at Lake Forest Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
