Jerry Edward Waterous, age 85 of Grand Haven, MI, passed away peacefully in his home under the loving care of his family on October 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. He was born on November 27, 1934 in Laingsburg, MI to Edward and Josephine (Bloomfield) Waterous.
Jerry was a curious and playful child, open and accepting to whatever life had in store. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and caring grandfather, and was always ready with a smile and a story whenever friends and family stopped to visit.
A graduate of General Motors Institute, he was a lifelong employee as an engineer at Fisher Body/Oldsmobile in Lansing. He loved cars of all kinds, as well as football, and he never met a cookie he didn’t like. Jerry served in the Michigan Army National Guard for 9 years. He was also a talented artist and would often create cute folk art items for use at home. In retirement, Jerry was a loving and ridiculously indulgent caregiver for his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by the love of his life, Alice Waterous of Grand Haven; and children, Jerome (Faith) Waterous of Beaverton, Natalie (Joe) Carmolli of Grand Haven, and Jane (David) Oliver of Appleton, WI; grandchildren, Terezia Waterous (Brandon Lucius), Ivy Carmolli, Gwendolyn Oliver, Eileen Carmolli, and Mallory Oliver. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Joanne Borst; sisters-in-law, Sally Osgood (Jeff Gonner) and Melody Osgood; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by parents, Josephine and Edward Waterous; sister, Laura Fell; and brothers-in-law, Leonard Osgood and Michael Osgood.
A private family graveside service will be held at Munger Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, with a memorial service scheduled for later date.
