Jennie G. Wiebenga, age 95 of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020 at a local care facility in Grand Rapids. She was born on December 20, 1924 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Cornelius and Aaltje (VandenBrandt) DeGram. Jennie married John W. Wetterman on January 30, 1945 and he preceded her in death in January of 1963. She then married Richard Wiebenga on September 1, 1967 and he preceded her in death in May of 1989.
Jennie graduated from Grand haven High School on 1942 and was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven. She worked as a Secretary for O.A.I.S.D. for 22 years before retiring in 1986. Jennie attended First Christian Reformed Church where she enjoyed participating in Bible Studies.
She loved to crochet and knit, and made several pieces for her children and grandchildren throughout the years. Jennie kept a diary which she wrote in every day since 1977; she never wanted to forget an event that happened in her life. She loved her family and was an excellent mother and loving grandmother to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Jennie is lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Janie (Ronald) Pavlin and Jacqueline Grace, all of Grand Haven; seven grandchildren: Jennie (Matthew) DeMott, John Rotonda, Joseph (Kaylee) Rotonda, Jane (John Holzhauer) Rotonda, John Wetterman, and Branden Wetterman; five great-grandchildren; brother, Leo (Marian) DeGram of Grand Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, John Warren Wetterman, Jr. in 2001, and James Wetterman in 1948; grandson, Joshua Rotonda; four brothers, Arthur, John, Gerritt, and Delbie DeGram; and sister, Elsie Diesel.
Private family services will take place. Memorial Contributions may be given to a charity of donor’s choice.
