Jean Carol (Cottrell) Ashley

Jean C. Ashley, age 95 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Robbinswood Assisted Living. She was born on August 9, 1928, in Muskegon, MI, to the late Cleon and Jennie (Joldersma) Cottrell. Jean married John Edward Ashley on February 20, 1948 and he preceded her in death on January 17, 2019, after 70 years of marriage.

Jean graduated from Muskegon High School in 1946 and was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a homemaker but enjoyed working at Pot West Restaurant and The Sandpiper Gift Store in Ludington. She loved conversing with customers more than anything.

Jean and John were active in many clubs together including the Elks, Rotary, Jaycees, and Lincoln Hills Country Club. They loved their life together wintering in Longboat Key, FL and summering in Ludington, MI on Hamlin Lake.

Jean will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children: Jim (Joanne) Ashley of Jenison, Ed (Belinda) Ashley of Ludington, and Jane (Rick) Reisterer also of Ludington; six grandchildren: Jon (Maija) Reisterer, Joe (Brandi) Reisterer, Jonathon Ashley, Elizabeth Ashley, Michael Ashley, and Lucas Ashley; and her five great-grandchildren: Laila, Kalvis, and Liana Reisterer, and Jaxsun and Ella Jean Knight.

A Celebration of Life for Jean will be held at a later date to be announced.

Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
