Jane Louise Wilson (DeYoung), age 80, of Grand Haven, Michigan, left her earthly body on August 8, 2024. She was born on July 30, 1944, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late James DeYoung and Doris Jorgensen. She married Larry Wilson on August 27, 1966. He passed away on December 20, 2024.
Jane was born and raised in Grand Rapids and earned a BS and MA at Central Michigan University in Education. She came back to Grand Rapids and taught Special Education for 30 plus years and was a loving teacher and friend.
However, family was most important to her, she was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and sister. Her smile melted people's hearts and allowed everyone to feel safe in her presence. Her children always felt like she was their biggest fan. She taught them how to be kind, loving, and to accept others just the way they are.
They will miss her sweet, “love you too” but feel her already in the presence of everything pure and authentic. She was the definition of true unconditional love, no judgement. Everyone that met her would say they were lucky to know her and share their time with her.
Most of all she would want everyone to remember, even those of you reading this, that you are something special!
Jane is survived by her three children: David (Aimee) Wilson, Kris (Jaden) Wilson-Keen, and Jaime (Michael) Wilson-McCormick; 11 grandchildren: Sophia, Nick, Taj, Ada, Skylar, Michael, Luke, Kiean, Levi, Emily, Samuel; her sister, Diane (Clare) Robison; sisters-in-law, Sheila Pantlind and Barbara Gosling; and plenty of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents; and siblings, Greg DeYoung and Linda Clarke.
The Celebration of Life for Jane and Larry will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Grand Haven Elks Club, in the upstairs hall.
