James “Jim” Walsh, age 77 of Grand Haven, passed away on May 15, 2022 at Robbinswood Assisted Living. He was born on December 3, 1944 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Thomas and Emily (Vissor) Walsh. Jim married the love of his life, Karen Sue Sullivan, on March 17, 1967 in Grand Haven. She preceded him in death on Christmas Day of 2019, after 52 years of marriage.
Jim graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1964 and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1968, during the Vietnam War Era. He was a life-time resident of Grand Haven and worked in sales and marketing in the transportation industry. Jim was a member of Second Reformed Church where he also served as Elder. He loved to golf, and had a passion for building model railroad sets.
Most importantly, Jim loved his family, and his two beloved dogs, Fergie and Sophie. Jim is remembered and missed by his daughter, Shannon (Robert) Young of Brookfield, WI; son-in-law, Jeff Stong of Grand Haven; grandchildren, James (Alli) Stong, Allisun (Justin) Donnelly, and Meghan Stong; great-grandchildren, William, Adeline, and Judah Stong; and a brother, Dennis (Julie) Walsh of Lowell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; his daughter, Shawnlyn Stong in 2021; two brothers, Michael and Paul Walsh; and brother-in-law, James Sullivan.
The Memorial Service for Jim will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Second Reformed Church with Pastor Derek Noorman officiating. Full Military Honors will be performed. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
