James “Jim” Lester Phillips, age 68 of West Olive, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 22, 2021 at home. He was born on February 10, 1952 in Saginaw, MI to the late Alchana ”Ken” and Janette (Leis) Phillips.
Jim graduated from Chesaning Union High School, Class of 1970. He was a long-time resident of Grand Haven and worked for Ess Tec Inc. of Holland for several years. Prior to this, he worked for Grand Haven Plastics and Manpower doing plastic injection molding.
Jim loved to hunt and enjoyed watching “Ridiculousness” and “Life Below Zero” on television, and was a big fan of “Lord of the Rings” and the “Harry Potter” movies/series. He was a good baker, and was known for his pumpkin pies he made on the holidays. Jim loved spending time with his dog, Chester, and his family.
Jim will be remembered and missed by his son, Caley (Nicole) Phillips of West Olive; his sister, Becky (Vern) Heeres of Grand Haven; and half-brother, Lewellyn “Dewey” Krizan (Luanne Dodge) of Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his half-brothers and their wives, Gordon (Jean) Krizan, Albert “Skip” (Sandy) Krizan, and Edward Krizan.
A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held at a later date to be announced.
