James "Jim" Richard Peterson

James “Jim” Richard Peterson, age 83 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Grand Pines Assisted Living. He was born on June 20, 1940 in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Barney and Margaret (Veltman) Peterson.

Jim graduated from Grand Haven High School and worked for the City of Grand Haven in the Water Department for several years, retiring in 1995. He was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven and a longtime member of First Christian Reformed Church.

Jim loved woodworking, the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, and riding his bike around town. He especially enjoyed going to Meijer’s to have coffee everyday with his coffee clutch buddies.

Jim will be remembered and missed by his two nieces, Darlene (Donnie) Erwin and Kelly Lizut; great-nephews, Kyle (Jill) Payne and Ryan (Kim) Payne; and great-great nieces and nephews: Ashley, Jacob, Kylee, Kierstin, and Macy.

A Graveside Service for Jim will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Lake Forest Cemetery with Pastor Art Van Wolde officiating.
