James Edwin VanOordt

James Edwin VanOordt, age 78 of Grand Haven, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at a local care facility. He was born December 30, 1940 in Grand Haven to the late Henry Jay and Elsie Marian (Crouse) VanOordt.

James was an avid Michigan State University football fan. He lived to watch old western movies and was a fan of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, Sr. James enjoyed many Sunday dinners with his family until he was unable to get out anymore.  He will be lovingly remembered for his smile and laughter; he was very mischievous!

He is survived by his sister, Faye Russell; brother-in-law, Jim Russell; nephews, Jeff (Dawn) Russell, Josh (Tonaleigh) Russell; niece, Julie (Bob) Brouwer; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins.

A Private Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or American Alzheimer’s Association of West Michigan.
