James Edward Kracht

James “Jim” Edward Kracht, age 55, of Spring Lake, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at home. He was born on January 16, 1970, in Muskegon, MI, to John and Barbara (Anderson) Kracht. Jim married Mindy Hayes on May 19, 2012, in Grand Haven.

Jim graduated from Orchard View High School and grew up in the Muskegon area. He worked for Eagle Alloy in Muskegon 24 years, where he played softball for their team. Jim attended First Wesleyan Church of Muskegon for many years, where he bowled in the church’s bowling league. Jim was a member of the Grand Haven Eagles Aerie # 925, and was a big sports fan who enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams: U of M and Detroit Lions football, Detroit Tigers baseball, Detroit Redwings hockey, and Detroit Pistons basketball.

Jim’s fondest memories included hanging out with his family and friends, listening to local bands playing his favorite music, and living on a boat in Hilton Head Island, SC, for five years, where he enjoyed an outdoor lifestyle and was surrounded by sports.

Jim will be forever remembered and missed by his wife, Mindy; his son, James (Ariel) Kracht; step-sons, Tyler (Erica) Cowan and Zach Cowan (Fiancée, Olivia Parker); two grandchildren, Blair and Sloane Kracht; his parents, John and Barbara Kracht; brother, Tim (Jennifer) Kracht; mother-in-law, Candy (Jeff) Kronewitter; father-in-law, Bruce (Debbie) Hayes; siblings-in-law, Tiffany and Jonathan Klunder; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The Memorial Service for Jim will take place at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at First Wesleyan Church of Muskegon, with Pastor Jeremy Lenertz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Mindy Kracht c/o Klaassen Family Funeral Home to help with Jim’s funeral expenses.
