Isla Prelesnik, age 93, of Grand Haven, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at a local care facility in Holland. She was born on June 29, 1931, in Decatur, MI, to the late John and Jeanette (Grissen) Haringsma. Isla married James “Jim” Prelesnik on October 29, 1954, in Holland, MI.
Isla graduated from Holland High School and went on to work as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell for many years. She then worked as a switchboard operator for Eagle Ottawa Leather Co., followed by the Tri-Cities YMCA as a nurturing daycare provider.
Isla enjoyed 20 plus years volunteering at the gift shop of North Ottawa Community Hospital and served on the voting election board for 20 years. She loved tulips and enjoyed traveling, riding her bike, sunbathing and spending time with her grandchildren. Isla was a woman of unwavering faith and loved celebrating the holidays with family and friends.
Isla will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 70 years, Jim; her daughter, Kim (James) Rosasco; her two sons, Rick (Kathy) and Steve (Sarah) Prelesnik; five well-loved grandchildren: Marissa (Mike) Lehman, Lauren (Weston) Wylie, Rachel, Kirsten, and Steven Prelesnik; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Nelson; and her brother-in-law, Ron (Gail) Prelesnik.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Quincy Place and Emmanuel Hospice for their loving and special care they provided to Isla.
A Celebration of Life Visitation for Isla will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Lake Forest Cemetery for immediate family.
