Irene Jane (Feriend) Arbogast

Irene Jane Arbogast, age 90, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at home. She was born on May 3, 1934, in Fife Lake, MI, to the late Charles and Ida (Newmarch) Feriend. Irene married George Charles Arbogast on November 23, 1957, in Indiana. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1986, after 28 years of marriage.

Irene graduated from high school and worked as an Accountant for The Bastian Blessing Co., DeWitt’s, ETC. Gift & Smoke Shop, and in other retail jobs throughout her working years. In her younger years, she spent her time bowling in leagues, golfing, and playing cards with friends. Irene enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching NASCAR races on television, going down to Florida in the winter months, and spending time with her grandchildren, especially her granddaughter, Kristin.

Irene will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughters, Terri Arbogast-Start and Kelly Ennenga of Grand Haven; daughter-in-law, Dana Arbogast-Brooks; her seven grandchildren: Connor Arbogast, Jordan (Jenni) Arbogast, Justin (Taylor) Arbogast, Michael Start, Kristin (Caleb) Start, Christopher Anderson, and Brett Ennenga; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and their son, James Arbogast-Brooks (2022).

The Memorial Service for Irene will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor David Kopka officiating. Visitations will be held the evening prior to the service on Monday, November 4th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, as well as one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, November 5th, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
