Hubert Benson Obituary

Hubert Edward Benson, age 79 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at a local care facility. He was born on September 28, 1942 in Harvey, IL to the late Ira and Nona (Blackstone) Benson.

Hubert proudly served his country in the US Army from 1965 to 1967, during the Vietnam War Era. He earned his BA from Michigan State University and worked in food service for the Jackson State Penitentiary. Hubert was also a teacher for many years at Fowlerville High School, and served as a coach for the Dansville High School football team.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Michigan State University Varsity Club.

Hubert is survived by his brother, Wayne (Joan) Benson of Sebring, FL; his four nephews, Steven (Karen) Benson, Wayne (Sheryl) Benson II, William (Nick) Benson, and Mark (Patricia) Benson; his niece, Kelly Novak; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ira, Louis, Robert, and David Benson; and his sister, Yvonne Benson.

Private family services will be held.
