Henry E. "H.T." Riekels, III, age 59, of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with recurrent Throat Cancer. He was born on July 23, 1965, in Muskegon, MI, to the late Henry E. "Hank" Riekels, Jr. and Kerrill King.
H.T. graduated from North Muskegon High School and attended Michigan State University. He most recently worked as a sales representative for Van Eerden Food Service.
H.T. had a great knowledge and love of music of all types. He traveled for many years following the Prog Day around the country where he made many more friends in addition to the many friendships formed with the Van Eerden family.
H.T. attended the Zen Buddhist Temple in Ann Arbor. His greatest joy was bicycling, and he would bike 40 to 100 miles a day, weather permitting. He most loved traveling around the country taking in all the beauty he would see while riding.
H.T. will be forever remembered and missed by his son, Thomas VanHoesen; stepmother, Melanie Riekels; two sisters, Heather (Robert) Oxley of Illinois and Sandra (Dan) Hall of Connecticut; step-sisters, Nora (Michael) Fitts and Cynthia (Peter) Guzman; his aunts: Kathy King-Anderson, Fritzi (Dr. Nigel Lock) Cole, and Sandra (Thomas) Klomparens; nieces and nephews: Andrea (David) Andre, Amelia Fitts, Camden Guzman (Kara Korf), Carly (Zach) Kucharek, Emma Gillette-Hall, and Jack, Cara, and Gracie Hall; great-nieces: Kit and Dorothy Andre, Adrienne and Allie Guzman, and Emma, Cara, and Grace Hall; and great-nephew, Jack Hall.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry E. "Hank" Riekels, Jr., (2024); his mother, Kerill King; and his aunt, Ruthy King.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Zen Buddhist Temple (Ann Arbor) or Corewell Health Foundation-Hospice.
