Henrietta Irene (Plutschouw) Laning

Henrietta Irene Laning, age 98 of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at home. She was born on March 12, 1922 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Leslie J. and Dena (Lohof) Plutschouw. Henrietta married George Henry Laning on December 12, 1945 in Ferrysburg, MI. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1974.

Henrietta attended from Grand Haven Christian School and was a life-long resident of Grand Haven. She was a member of Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church and was a member of the “Mary Martha Circle” at the church. Henrietta enjoyed baking and cooking, loved making family dinners, reading newspapers, and she kept a spotless house.

Henrietta will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Karen (Robert) VanderZee of Grand Haven; son, Darrell G. Laning also of Grand Haven; grandsons, Brian (Sue Ellen) VanderZee of Ada and Mark VanderZee of Grand Haven; great-grandchildren, Harrison, Arabella, Rowen, and Pierce VanderZee; and sister-in-law, Irene Selby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; sisters, Louise DeHorn and Lucille VanDyke; and several sister and brother-in-laws.

A Graveside Service for Henrietta will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Spring Lake Township Cemetery with Pastor Mike Westerveld officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church.
