Harry J. Bulthouse

Harry J. Bulthouse, age 94 of Nunica, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was born on November 12, 1929, in Spring Lake, MI, to Harry and Maragret (Johnson) Bulthouse, Sr. He married Joan Wierenga on July 9, 1955, at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church. 

Harry proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean War Era. He worked at Challenge Machinery/Puffer Hubbard during his career as a painter, and later worked for many years with his wife, Joan, as Director of Facilities and Maintenance at Williamsburg Apartments in Grand Haven.

Harry's passions included woodworking, going to auctions, and attending tractor and steam engine shows where he enjoyed visiting with many people. For many years, he spent his spare time restoring tractors and Model A cars and trucks.

Harry is survived by his children: Tim (Helen) Bulthouse, Gary Bulthouse, Joann (Jim) Berdinski, and Cheryl (David) Sonnenberg; grandchildren: Jamie Sonnenberg, Becki (Eric) Mineer, Melissa Sonnenberg, Ashley (James) Makin, and Gina (Bobby) Jones; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary and Ruth; and brother, Les (Nancy) Bulthouse.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Joan Bulthouse on June 2, 2017; four brothers; two sisters; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

A Visitation for friends and family will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.

The Graveside Service for Harry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Spring Lake Township Cemetery with Pastor Jamie Jones officiating. Full Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post #28 of Grand Haven.
