Grace Louise Kruizenga, age 71 of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at home. She was born on May 28, 1952, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Franklin and Bonnie (Wales) Ellsworth. Grace married Charles Kruizenga on August 30, 1975, in Grand Haven.
Grace graduated from Grand Haven High School and worked as a bartender for several years, most recently working in laundry services at Robbinswood Assisted Living before her retirement.
Grace was a regular attendee of Lifetree Community Church and a member of the Grand Haven Eagles, Aerie #925 Auxiliary. For many years, In the summer months, she enjoyed camping with Charlie at their property on the White River. She enjoyed meeting new people and relished time spent with family and friends. Grace also liked going on weekend adventures, basking in the sun, and trying her luck at Keno while socializing with friends. She was often referred to as an animal whisperer, as she befriended all manner of critters.
Grace will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 48 years, Charlie; daughter, Heather (Thomas Ward) Haydo; her two beloved grandchildren, Spencer and Emily Haydo; her sister, Deborah DeYoung; brother, Curt (Jan) Ellsworth; sisters-in-law: Nancy (Bob) Swartz, Ruth (Steve) Harrison, and Christine Kruizenga; brothers-in-law, Dave (Laura Lamun) Allen and Ed (Kathy) Kruizenga; and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, David Ellsworth; parents-in-law, George and Grace Kruizenga; brother-in-law, John Kruizenga; and sister-in-law, Linda Mendez.
The Memorial Service for Grace will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Lifetree Community Church with Pastor Jeff Elzinga officiating. Following the service, a Reception will be held, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Grand Haven Eagles, Aerie #925 upstairs hall.
Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Faith Hospice of West Michigan or S.P.C.A. of Southwest Michigan.
