Glenn Robert Yoas, age 89 of Grand Haven, passed away at home on Monday, June 1, 2020. He was born on July 4, 1930, in Newport, MI, to the late Russell and Marie (Shippee) Yoas. Glenn was 1 of 11 children. He married Arlene Swart McDiarmid on December 13, 1963, in Grand Haven, MI.
Glenn graduated from Monroe High School in 1948. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. Glenn went on to work as a trooper for the Michigan State Police for many years, and then served as a magistrate in Ottawa County for 17 years.
He was a former member of Christ Community Church who loved woodworking and enjoyed playing cribbage and tennis. Glenn especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, and he would always look forward to attending family reunions in Newport.
Glenn is lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 57 years, Arlene; two daughters, Robin (Robert) Peters and Gay (Ken) Strobel, all of Holland, MI; three sons, Craig (Julie) Yoas of Grand Haven, Cameron (Mary Jo) Yoas of Phoenix, AZ, and Scot (Christine) Yoas of Plymouth, MI; 14 grandchildren: Mary, Andrea, Mackenzie, Catherine, Ashley, Alexander, Maxwell, Hadley, Anne, Campbell, Lily, Tate, Samuel, and Mac; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Ainsley; three sisters, Margaret (John) Kuzych, Colleen Cook, and Loraine LaVigne; and brother, Bruce Yoas.
He was preceded in death by six brothers: Charles, Waynn, Lloyd, Lynn, Lowell, and Ronald.
A Celebration of Life for Glenn may be held at a later date, which will be announced.
