Gladys Joyce Knoll, age 89, of Grand Haven, passed into her Heavenly home on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. She was born on April 4, 1935, in Holland, MI, to the late George and Reka (Brink) Wedeven. Gladys married Elwood Knoll on January 8, 1954. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2022, after 68 years of marriage.
Gladys graduated from Holland Christian High School and attended First Church Grand Haven since 1959. She was known to many as a delightful person who had many lifelong friends and continued to make new friends at the Village of the Pines, where she resided for the last six years. Gladys enjoyed playing games, camping, and socializing with friends. She especially loved spending time with her family, who regarded her as being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandma, "Glady."
Gladys will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Constance (James) Bakker of Holland and Mary (Todd) Hamstra of Grand Haven; two sons, David (Suzanne) Knoll of Grand Haven and Michael Knoll (Laura Lambertson) of Grand Rapids; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Armand) Sherman; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Edgar) Westenbroek; brother, Vern (Carol) Wedeven; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Wedeven.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwood; son, Terry Knoll; brother, Glen Wedeven; sister-in-law, Sally Knoll; brother-in-law, Robert Knoll; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Blaine & Kristi Knoll.
The family would like to thank all those who participated in Gladys' care these past few weeks.
The Memorial Service for Gladys will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at First Church Grand Haven, with Rev. Arthur Van Wolde officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Robinson Township Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Grand Haven Christian School or Love in Action of the Tri-Cities.
