Geraldine “Gerry” Ann (McFadden) Holzinger

Geraldine “Gerry” Ann Holzinger, age 90 of Grand Haven, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Harbor Hospice - Poppen House in Muskegon. Gerry was born on December 3, 1932 in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Col. Vincent and Irene (Hollis) McFadden. She married Emery Holzinger on February 12, 1955 in Grand Haven, and he preceded her in death in 2022.

Everyone loved Gerry’s sense of humor, quick wit, and the ability to bring laughter and fun to whatever she was doing. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, camping, and sailing, but she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. 

Gerry will be lovingly remembered by her children: Ellen (Lee) Tanis of Grand Rapids, Gerry (Mike) McDonald of Spring Lake, Matt (Robin) Holzinger of Grand Haven, and Mary Jo (Ed) Messenger of Jenison; daughter-in-law, Robin Holzinger of Grand Haven; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan (Daniel) Mead; sister-in-law, Patricia McFadden; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery; son, Mark; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald “Dan” (Dorothy) McFadden, Patrick McFadden, Larry (Joyce) McFadden, Gordon McFadden, Vic (Bonnie) McFadden, and Terrance “Al” (Caroline) McFadden.

The Memorial Mass for Geraldine will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Parish with Fr. Dan Schumaker officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 17th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
