Gail Aileen Goodwin, age 76 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Robbinswood Assisted Living. She was born on March 25, 1947 in Jackson, MI to Carter and Grace (Radabough) Winn.
Gail graduated from Parkside High School in Jackson, where she spent most of her childhood. She then attended Michigan State University and moved to Grand Haven where she began her career working as an insurance agent for AAA Insurance of Michigan, retiring in 2009, after 33 years of service.
Gail faithfully attended and volunteered at Hope Church in Grand Haven for many years and was active in her community, serving in various capacities throughout her life. She served as past President of the Life Underwriters in Hillsdale County and past President of M.A.D.D. (Mothers against Drunk Driving) where she also served on the State Board. Gail was also a member of the Michigan Business and Professional Women Association, and was awarded Citizen of the Year award in 1993.
Gail had a love of the water and spent a lot of time sailing Suttons Bay and Grand Traverse Bay, and in her younger years, enjoyed camping and traveling. Her family was most important to her, and she relished the time spent with her grandkids.
Gail will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Dawn (Mark) Jennings of Grand Haven, MI; her son, Ronald (Crystal) VanAkin, Jr. of Reading, MI; seven beloved grandchildren: Trey (Alexandria) Jennings, Baylee (Christopher) Jennings, Tyler VanAkin, Brett Jennings, Conner VanAkin, RayAnn VanAkin, and Carter VanAkin; three great-grandchildren and twins on the way; sister, Suzanne (Dave) Beitelschies; her two brothers, Carter (Patricia) Winn and Charles (Brenda) Winn; brother-in-law, Donald Blink; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Janice Blink.
The Memorial Service for Gail will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Hope Church in Grand Haven with Pastor Tim Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
