Freda Mae Vrablic, age 78, of Grand Haven, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. Freda was born on December 30, 1946, in Muskegon, MI to the late Richard and Lula (Hause) Barrett. Freda married the love of her life, James Vrablic, on June 18, 1966, in Spring Lake, MI.
Freda began her education at Little Black Lake School and graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1966. She was employed by the Grand Haven Foundry, and later, she served as a bartender and waitress at the Driftwood Inn. She then returned to her high school alma mater, where she spent 18 dedicated years working in the kitchen and as a custodian.
Freda had a passion for cooking and was exceptionally talented at knitting and crocheting. A devoted member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Freda found great joy in singing with the choir, which she did for many years. She also loved to travel, with some of her favorite destinations being Colorado Springs, North Carolina, and California.
Freda especially enjoyed dining out, with Red Lobster and Olive Garden among her favorite spots. Above all, she cherished her role as a grandmother and found her greatest happiness in spending time with and spoiling her two beloved granddaughters.
Freda is lovingly remembered and missed by her loving husband of 59 years, James; her four children: Michelle Langbehn, Marie Vrablic, Jimmy Vrablic (Mary Till), and Matt (Samantha) Vrablic; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Hannah Vrablic; brothers, Claude Barrett and John (Mary) Barrett; siblings-in-law: Donald (Ann) Vrablic, Shirley Schmitt, Linda Hall, Barb (Paul) Bruder; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: Rose Barrett, Ruth Lightfoot, and Richard Barrett.
The Funeral Service for Freda will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at St. John's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jared C. Cramer officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. A private Interment will be held at Lake Forest Cemetery.
