Evan Sean Kincaid

Evan Sean Kincaid, age 35, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. He was born on May 16, 1988 in Charlotte, MI to Marsha McWhorter and Vance L. Kincaid. He lived chapters of his life in Holland, Saugatuck, Kalamazoo, and Okemos, making memories wherever he went. Evan married Jacklyn L. Chandler on November 1, 2022 in Holland, MI.

Evan graduated from Okemos High School, where he played on the football, wrestling, and swimming teams, and then attended Western Michigan University. He was employed by Disability and Mental Health Services in Kalamazoo for many years, and was a former chef at several local restaurants in the Saugatuck area. Evan enjoyed learning from his chefs, and food was love to him.

Evan loved music and played the bass guitar in a psychedelic rock jam band, and was also a singer/song writer. He enjoyed running music festivals in the area, bringing his musical qualities and expertise to the table. Evan had a compassionate heart, a mischievous spirit, gave the best bear hugs, and had a signature belly laugh. He was a loving husband who especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, cooking and preparing meals together.

Evan will be forever remembered and missed by his beloved wife, Jacklyn Chandler of West Olive; his parents, Marsha McWhorter and Vance Kincaid; parents-in-law, Jeffrey (Katy) Chandler; sister, Ally Martin; brothers, Andy Martin and Vance P. (Nee) Kincaid of Oregon; two nieces and one nephew; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

The Celebration of Life for Evan will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Following the service, a picnic luncheon will be held at Pottawattomie Park, with food provided by The Farmhouse Deli & Pantry and Zingerman’s.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Harbor Humane Society or the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan.
