Obituary

Elgin E. Webb, age 94 of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Robbinswood Assisted Living. He was born on July 31, 1927 in La Salle, MI to the late Thomas and Cora (Neidermeier) Webb.

Elgin graduated from Monroe High School and went on to serve his country in the US Army from 1945 to 1946 in World War II. He was a long-time member of St. Patrick - St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish and the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post #28.  He was employed at Sears and Robuck Co., and was then the owner and operator of the Montgomery Ward store in Grand Haven, spending his retirement years driving for Harbor Transit.  Elgin enjoyed taking care of his yard, gardening, hunting, wood-working, and watching ball games. 

Elgin is remembered and missed by his wife of 73 years, Mary; his daughter, Cathy (Stanley) Simmer of Grand Haven; his two sons, Patrick (Donna) Webb of Ohio, and Michael (Anne-Marie) Webb of Harrison Township; six grandchildren, Kristin, Katie, Tasha, Ian, Grant, and Lilli; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Henry (Carolyn) Webb; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

The Funeral Service for Elgin will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at St. Patrick - St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish with Fr. Charles Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery with full military honors to be performed by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post #28.
