Eileen Ruth (Den Houten) Waite

Eileen Ruth Goulooze Waite (Peaches), age 94 of Jenison, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Metro Health Hospital. She was born on March 25, 1927 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Joseph and Ruth (Elson) Den Houten.

Eileen graduated from Creston High School in 1945 and married Martin Goulooze on April 4, 1947. They met at General Motors and worked there together for several years together. Martin preceded her in death in 1978. 

Eileen worked as a bookkeeper for Dejay Auto Sales, and later, DeJay Slick Truck. She had a passion for audio Bible, politics, nutrition, and education, attending G.R.J.C. in 1990 with her daughter, Kathy. Peaches was known for her love of family, friends, and mood lip-stick. 

Eileen was an active member of Georgetown Senior Center and developed her long love of puzzling there. She attended North West Gospel Hall, and later, New Life Baptist Church. She was a dedicated volunteer answering phones at TCT Network prayer line, praying for the needs of many. Eileen enjoyed helping others and will be remembered for her tender heart and devoted service to her faith and community.

Eileen is lovingly remembered and missed by her two sons, Dr. Martin J. (Darla) Goulooze III, and Steven (Renae) Goulooze; her daughter, Kathleen (James) Chapin; 10 beloved grandchildren: Susan (Kevin) Johnson, John (Audra) Goulooze, Jr., Joshua (Whitney) Goulooze, James (Victoria) Chapin, Jr., John (Stacy) Chapin, Jason (Mindy) Chapin, Phillip (Jamie) Chapin, Steven Goulooze, Jr., and Ryan Goulooze; many great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Delores (Ron) Cook, and Lorna Kaat-Rose; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; her two sons, Timothy and John Goulooze; her granddaughter, Amy Goulooze; and Dr. David Waite. 

The Celebration of Life for Eileen will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at New Life Baptist Fellowship Church (6252 Burlingame Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315). Interment will be at Georgetown Township Cemetery on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 11:30 a.m.
